Backintyme makes history come alive. They don period dress to perform stories and songs from the 19th Century. Each performance piece consists of an anedote drawn from a piece of historical research, interwoven with a related song of the time. The stories tell what folk did and thought back then — their acts and ideas. They form the source of our knowledge of the past. The songs reveal what they felt — their emotions. They weave the fabric of our understanding.

Backintyme, accompanied by Martha Delaney Hotz and Tim Martin will share stories from the 19th century and the music of composers Stephen Collins Foster, James Bland, George Root, Fanny Crosby, Henry Clay Work and others.

This event is free of charge.

The Waterworks is available through the generosity of the City of St. Augustine and the St. Johns Cultural Council.
